Educational Opportunities

I

Adult and Worker Training

Provide adult and incumbent-worker training in 3-D Digital design technologies and additive manufacturing techniques. Courses open to the public and customized to meet the needs of your specific business to improve and enhance the capabilities of the regional workforce.

I

Student Training

Provide middle-school and high-school training programs in 3-D technologies and serve as a resource for regional robotics clubs, and for educators in the industrial arts, sciences, engineering, architecture, and arts, using a variety of software.

I

School and Public Tours

Encourage grade-school, high-school, and general public tours of the facility to educate the region’s younger generation on career options in this exciting, emerging technology.

If you can dream it, we can build it. Or we’ll help you learn yourself.

3-D  Design Services

I

Design Consultation and Assistance

Do you have an idea for a product but don’t know where to start? Have you made some drawings or sketches on paper and would like to see what they look like in 3-D? Maybe you have already created a product and would like to see how some changes might look? We will be happy to sit down with you and offer consultation and expertise for any phase of the design process.

I

Laser Scanning

Use existing objects and models to create digital files for alteration, modification, or re-design. Files can be created for a range of uses.

I

Direct Digital Manufacturing

Create usable manufacturing components, parts, jigs, fixtures, and end-use products from a range of materials ranging from ridged abs to flexible and both in the same print with an extensive color palate. Cost/benefit analysis consultations are available.

I

Rapid Prototyping

Using ABS/PLA, fortified plastics and other innovative compounds to create accurate, durable and functional product prototypes. Designs can be quickly evaluated and modified even remotely.

I

Mold-Making and Material Casting

Need a re-usable mold or casting in an alternative material? Our Center is capable of taking products to the next step. KC3D combines 3D Printing with traditional art casting techniques blending the best of the new with reliability of the past.

We can also make molds for low temp injection molding and print directly in rubber and silicon like flexible molds.

Our students use 3-D printing.

  • Art students use this technology to assist with sculpture, glass, and design projects.
  • Forensic science majors develop a bone inventory and database for classroom and laboratory use.
  • Geology students prepare three-dimensional models of topographic studies and shockwaves created by earthquakes.
  • Members of the psychology department create three-dimensional models of sound waves for research and product development.
